About me.
In 2003 I decided to pursue my own artistic ambitions, and started along a new path in stained glass, a medium which I had always been enthralled by. I was lucky enough to be offered an apprenticeship with the Stained Glass Guild in Wandsworth, London. This was where I gained an invaluable foundation in the craft.
I now design and produce artwork in various media, mainly glass for a variety of clients including, Interior Designers, Architects as well as private commissions. I am especially interested in creating unique contemporary designs using a combination of traditional and modern techniques and styles. For me this is a very exciting time; because of emerging technology I hope to be able to create fresh, original work that can utilise the disparate experience I have gained throughout my career to date. Common themes in my work are rectilinear forms and repeated motifs with elements of Islamic geometric patterns and symbolic dualities.
As well as the smaller fine art pieces, I am also very keen to produce larger scale projects. I feel there is real scope for enhancing public spaces through the medium, and integrating art and the built environment. In a recent competition I was commisioned to produce a glass artwork for the new library at the Royal Society of Chemistry at their building in Picadilly. I am also very happy to say that I have also been selected in a competition to produce a piece for a new "Quiet Room" in London's St. Pancras International station which I am hoping to begin work on shortly.
In 2009 I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Glass and Architecture at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. I was asked to speak about 'New Ways In Architecture" at a conference to mark the end of 125 years of Glass at Central Saint Martins in September.
